Cleaning & Preparation

Step 1

Remove all floor mats and floor mat covers. Set these to the side and I will cover how to deep clean your floor mats in another blog post.

Step 2

Remove all large pieces of trash, then thoroughly vacuum the seats. Remember to get into the crevasses and remove all of the dirt and crumbs.

Step 3

Cleaning the seats, below are some popular and effective methods. All of these methods are equally effective and viable if used properly.

Method 1:

You will need a fabric cleaner and an interior brush. Spray down an area of the seat and use the interior brush to agitate the cleaner and bring the dirt to the surface. After agitating wipe away the dirt with a clean microfiber towel. Repeat these steps until the desired result is achieved. Be sure to work in small areas and do not let the cleaner dry.

Method 2:

If you have a steam cleaner it can be very helpful in cleaning cloth and fabric seats. Take a microfiber towel and wrap around the nozzle of the steamer. Spray some fabric cleaner onto the desired area. Next, steam the pre-treated area and wipe dry using a clean microfiber towel. Repeat these steps until the desired result is achieved.

Method 3:

You probably don't have access to a hot water extractor, but we will cover how to use it anyway. Prepare the machine following the manufacturer's directions. Next, pull the trigger to spray the area with cleaning solution. Use the extractor to suction up the cleaner this should pull up any dirt as well. Repeat these steps until the desired result is achieved.

Protection

After cleaning the area let it dry. Next, apply a fabric protector like Scotchgard Auto Fabric & Carpet Protector. Follow the manufacturer's directions when applying.

Conclusion

With this knowledge, you can go out and clean your seats with confidence. Follow these steps for professional results at home. And as always if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.

Waxes vs. Sealants vs. Coatings

Waxes vs. Sealants vs. Coatings

Some people see waxing or adding any paint protection as something extra or something for a special occasion. This, however, is not true. Paint protection is an essential part of owning and maintaining any vehicle. Regular protection helps to ensure the paint does not get damaged by preserving the oils in your paint and preventing oxidation.
